This Series 80 Colt Combat Elite is an excellent example of the 1980’s, offered in a two-tone finish. Stainless steel frame and blue slide. Manufactured in 1989, this Combat 1911 is a single action, semi-automatic, chambered in .45 ACP. It Includes the serial number matched maroon box, Styrofoam insert, factory pamphlet and a Colt factory archive letter.

The blue finish on the slide shows strong throughout and the leading edges are sharp. The frame shows in a similar fashion to the slide, no notable marks. The trigger shows minimal silvering common with light use.

The markings are as follows; The center left side of the slide shows “COLT MK IV” above “-SERIES 80-” the rampant colt is positioned to the right. The trigger guard has the “VP” cartouche. The right side of the pistol wears “COMBAT” underlined in a bold type, above “*ELITE*” centered on the slide. The frame has Colt’s patent and address starting above the grip “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” and the serial number is right behind the slide stop pin “CG16973”.

Other markings include the barrel “-COLT 45 AUTO- and the magazine floorplate is marked with the rampant colt “COLT 45 AUTO” “M” “S”.

The black rubber combat grips feature a silver Colt medallion in the center and wrap around the front strap of the pistol. They show no significant wear and are in excellent condition.

The Colt factory archive letter states this Series 80 Colt shipped in the configuration as presented above in two-tone finish with rubber combat stocks to RSR Wholesale Guns Midwest, Inc. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 20, 1989. This included 7 guns in the shipment.
